It’s but human instinct to protect and deeply care for the people most important in our lives. We would rather be hurt than see them in pain. I know hurt and pain are so much a part of life, but to see those whom we greatly treasure and care for struggle with it, is something we can never endure. I guess, people who love will always be like this. It doesn't matter if the one we love is the worst person on earth, in our eyes and hearts, he or she will always be "perfect"… and would always complete us, don’t you think?
