FACEBOOK: First Generation

(re-blogged from Blogs@Juice)

It's almost impossible to imagine that Facebook passed the half-billion membership mark almost a year ago, in July 2010, which means that Mark Zuckerberg's little social website will most likely surpass 1,000,000,000 members by the time it reaches its 10th birthday in February 2014.

We can imagine the first ever member of Facebook if it started at the Creation.

Here are a few more Facebook statistics:

> 50% of active users log on to FB on any given day
> The average user has 130 friends
> FB users spend a total of 700 Billion minutes on the site each month

Galileo would be impressed. Facebook is truly changing the way we view our world.

Mark Zuckerberg is the Isaac Newton of this Millenium.

So what will Facebook evolve into? It's already an important a utility as the telephone.

Charles Darwin ought to give us a pretty good idea of evolution.

One thing's for sure. Facebook will be around for a long, long, long time.

Until an extinction event happens again?

The Filipino Spirit... Seriously!

I found this in some Philippine websites and blogs.  Most mention Bill Gates, others Steve Jobs.  I just thought it worth re-blogging...

---------------------------------------

Bill Gates organized an enormous session to recruit a new Chairman for Microsoft Europe.

Exactly 5,000 candidates assembled in a large room.

One candidate is MARIO DIMACULANGAN.

Bill Gates: Thank you for coming. Those who do not know JAVA may leave.
2,000 people leave the room.

MARIO says to himself, 'I do not know JAVA but I have nothing to lose if I stay. I’ll give it a try.'

Bill Gates: Candidates who never had experience in managing more than 100 people may leave.
2,000 people leave the room.

Mario says to himself, 'I never managed anybody but myself, but I have nothing to lose if I stay.
What can happen to me?' So, he stays.

Bill Gates: Candidates who do not have MBAs may leave.
500 people leave the room.

Mario says to himself, 'I left high school at 15 but what have I got to lose?'
So, he stays in the room.

Lastly, Bill Gates asked the candidates who do not speak Serbo-Croat to leave.
498 people leave the room.

Mario says to himself, 'I do not speak one word of Serbo-Croat but what do I have to lose?'
So, he stays and finds himself with one other candidate.

Everyone else has gone.

Bill Gates joins them and says, 'Apparently, you are the only two candidates who speak Serbo-Croat, so I’d now like to hear you have a conversation together in that language.'

Calmly, Mario turns to the other candidate and says 'Ano ba yan, dong, tayo na lang ang naiwan dito?'

The other candidate answers, 'Ewan ko ba, pare, bakit nga ba sila nagsilabas?'

That's the Spirit!  No What If's or What Could Have Been's.
