Suckers for Beetle

The 2012 Beetle is coming out soon...

My family and I are suckers for beetles!  We just love BUGS!  But compared to the new models, for us, the old, classic, and vintage look is to die for; it is a BEAUTY.   In terms of speed, it pretty much lives up to its name.  After all, it isn't called a BUG for nothing.  Well, only beetle enthusiasts like us will agree and understand that.

I have nothing against the new beetle.  I believe it has far greater features and modern functions.  It's great, but to me, it somehow does not resemble its "ancestors."  Sure, the dome roof is still evident but it's more like a regular sedan and does not sport that round & bulky look which makes the old models unique and classic.

I guess, it's the old soul in me that won't let go...

What a GENIUS!

A wooden staircase xylophone playing one of Bach's classical pieces in the middle of Japan's forest.  This is utterly AMAZING!

THE KING'S SPEECH: A Great Speech Indeed!

I finally had the time to watch this award-winning movie... Boy! Was I touched!  It had me crying throughout THE SPEECH.

It's the true story of monarch King George VI (Queen Elizabeth's father), who struggled with a terrible speech defect (severe stammering) since he was five years old.  The movie is about one man's determination to overcome this impairment that has prevented him from achieving so many things in his life, through the help of one man who believed in him and saw in him the makings of a great leader.  When everybody else was expecting him to fail, he so greatly succeeded by overcoming the fears and insecurities brought about by the experiences he had as a child, inflicted upon him (intentionally or not) by no less than the people closest to him, those he cared about and loved the most.

It also shows how a woman's love, strength, and support for her husband, despite his shortcomings and the speech impairment that is most often an embarrassment for most people, can be greatly essential to a man's success or failure.

For me, this is one "must-see" movie for husbands and wives, and couples alike.

Whatta Proposal!

I think it's really so romantic of 28-year old author Christopher Currie to propose to his girlfriend through his new novel, "The Ottoman Motel."  After thanking everyone who has helped and mentored him in his book, he writes this:

"If it's possible to fall more in love with someone every day, then that's what I  do.  To my favourite, to the reason I live my life, Leesa Wockner, who, if she reads this, I hope will agree to marry me, despite the number of  commas in this sentence."

What a way to propose...!  Sweet!

It's certainly not so surprising his girlfriend said YES to his proposal... who wouldn't?  Well, I surely would if I were in her shoes!

Multigrain Sticks, Anyone?!

I just discovered a new "healthy" junk food today.  Ironic?  Well, it's cheese flavored baked multigrain sticks made from 5 healthy whole grains - oats, barley, wheat, brown rice, and corn.  I told you it's healthy!  Tastes good, too!

Not sure if there are other flavors, but I tried Cheese.  The "multigrain" thing got me... Not bad...
